GETTING AN EMAIL
SUBSCRIPTION
FEATURE FOR YOUR
WEBSITE USING
FEEDBURNER
Feedburner is a web
feed management
provider launched in
2004. It was founded
by
Dick Costolo,
Eric
Lunt, Steve
Olechowski, and Matt
Shobe. On 3rd June,
2007, Feedburner was
acquired by Google
Inc. for a rumored
price of $100 million.
Today, millions of
website/blog owners
make use of
Feedburner to
distribute their feeds
to their subscribers. I
use Feedburner on
both my forum and
blog .
GETTING YOUR EMAIL
SUBSCRIPTION CODE
FROM FEEDBURNER
Feedburner, being
owned by Google,
requires you to have a
Google account
before you can make
use of it. If you
already have an
account on Google
just move on to the
next step but if you
don’t, you can
Create
here.
Having gotten a
Google account,
proceed to
Feedburner’s website
HereUnder a text
saying
“Burn a feed
right this instant.“,
you will see a text
field. Enter your RSS
Feed link there, then
click on the
“Next”
button.
On the next page, you
will see a text field
where you will have to
enter your Feed title
and Feed address. A
feed title and address
will be auto-generated
for you but you can
change it if you like.
Then click on the
“Next” button to
continue. You will see
a text written in bold
like this:
*.Congrats! Your
FeedBurner feed is
now live. Want to
dress it up a little?
Now scroll down and
click on the
“Skip
directly to feed
management” link.
Click on the
“Publicize” tab in the
main
menu, then click on
the
“Email
Subscriptions” link by
the right sidebar.
Now scroll down and
click on the
“Activate” button to
enable email
subscription for your
feeds.
Good job! We’re
almost there, just a
few
more steps.
Below the
“Subscription Form
Code” text, you will
see a text field
containing the code
for the email
subscription form. If
you look down a little,
you will also see
another text saying
Subscription Link
Code and below it,
you will see another
text field containing a
code. This code is for
placing the direct
email subscription link
in your website
instead of the form.
Alright! Just choose
between the
Subscription Form
Code and Subscription
Link Code then copy
the code and put it
where you want it to
appear in your
website.
Okay! Just some few
settings and we’re
good to go.
By the right sidebar,
just right under the
“Subscription
Management” link,
you will find 3 links for
the email subscription
settings which are
Communication
Preferences, Email
Branding, and Delivery
Options.
Visit the links one
after the other and
configure the options
to your taste. That’s
all.
